About me
My work is rooted in the landscape of my upbringing—the small island of Kökar in Åland. Though I no longer maintain the same direct connection to the place, it continues to shape me. Time and distance have altered my relationship to the island; when I return, I encounter it as much through memory as through physical presence.
To navigate these memories, I work from both childhood photographs and newly captured images of the island. Whether drawn from past or present, these references carry a deep personal significance and reflect my ongoing connection to place and identity.
Through my paintings, I offer glimpses into the environments that formed me. I seek to evoke a sense of calm—the quiet stillness I experience both in the landscape itself and in the act of painting. My work explores how everyday surroundings can hold stories of belonging, security, and self. Through layered surfaces, subtle color shifts, and a softened visual language, I investigate how memories are preserved, reshaped, and carried forward over time.
